Yesterday, a friend of mine lent me his BMW 430xd Gran Coupe so I could drive around town with it and do some errands. When I returned the car, he asked me how I liked it. I said that it drove “just fine”. In reality, driving the car felt like having a numb extremity.
Dayum... looking very good. If 90% of this makes it into the production car, then this will be a very sexy entry in the sub 50k€ roadster range!
Full Disclosure: I wanted to write a lengthy article about the underappreciated E46 compact, but I seem to have caught the flu and now, writing something in a foreigny languagy is harder than it was before. Then again, I have to stay in bed and I’m bored - so I decided to write a very, very short article on this car.
Long live the Republic.
Prost! It’s Monday! Have a good start of the week, my fellow Jalops!
...it’s not like I haven’t had that realization for a while, but until now it wasn’t much more than daydreaming.
For the first time today, I watched the trailer to Michael Bay’s new movie “13hrs”. It’s about the raid on the US embassy in Benghazi which left a couple of people dead, including the US ambassador to Lybia. Anyhow, the incident happened on September 11, 2012 and was a real bummer for US-Lybian relations, to say the…
If you have 18 minutes to spare, watch this BMW E30 promotional clip from a time when phones were big, cars were small and MTV played music videos. The video is only six minutes long but if you’re anything like me - an 1989 E30 320i driver, BMW fanatic and huge 80’s fan- you are going to watch this clip at least three…
Or at least that's what Der Spiegel implies (Trigger Warning: Article is in German). Apparently BMW people were close-by in order to protect the identity of their drunk and possibly coked-out sentient rage mobile that viciously attacked its rival from Stuttgart. It even happened in Stuttgart! Shots fired Mercedes. Any…
Sometimes I like to torture myself by imagining what my favorite classic movies would look like, were they remade today. (Don't judge me)
I spent the years that I'd consider formative for my life in Paris. And even though I had a love-hate relationship with that city while I was there, the three years I spent in Paris were probably the best years of my life.
...and I am not even American! Anhow, what I mean is that for the last few days when I push the reply button most of the time nothing happens. I reload the page a couple of times and suddenly it works again. That is on both computers Win7 & Mac OSX as well as my iPad. Is this a known issue or am I a freak outlier?
Yesterday, io9 posted an article about an organization named ISIS. Not the cut-throat, behead, mass-murder ISIS we all know and hate, but the Institute for Science and International Security. An organization that seeks to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons to terrorists or states with dubious intentions. Needless…
The other day I was surfing the web, looking at vintage Jags and came across this gem. As the picture says it's a mock-up created by Jaguar founder William Lyons. Apparently it's based on the MK1 design wise and apparently, it's god damn gorgeous. Does anybody have more pictures, infos on this car/mock-up?
Good day to you, dear Opponauts,
Disclaimer: Dr. No theme song is excluded from this list because, well, it's the James Bond theme.
Shit like the head-lines above will make me abandon social media soon. Seriously, I can't take this stupid crap any longer. For the love of Miatas and E30s I hope Jalopnik will never start click-baiting in that way (nothing against "click-baiting" per se, but this style...). I can't take Buzzfeedization of media!
